Planning commission to review site plan for new middle school

The Benton Planning Commission is scheduled to have its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Tues., Dec. 6, at the Benton City Hall, 114 S. East Street in Benton.

One of the items on its agenda is a site plan for Benton School District's new middle school. The school will be located at 13000 Interstate 30, next to Benton's new fire station and the Saline County Career Technical Campus.

Benton School District is also building a new elementary school near this location.

The commission's board of adjustments will consider three variance requests. The variance request is for properties located at 2315 W. South St., 5539 Atlantic Cove and 807 Coral Cove. Other plans

The commission has three more site plans to consider on its agenda. They will vote on a site plan for a multi-tenant building located at 20461 I-30. They will also consider a site plan for Hurricane Lake Storage Centers at 3554 Salem Rd., and a site plan for a mini storage building at 1502/1504 W. South St.

There are several rezone requests on the agenda as well. The commission will consider rezoning requests for properties at 310 N. Fourth St., 915 Newcomb Drive and 404 W. Sevier St.

There are also two conditional use requests on the agenda for 404 W. Sevier

St. and 4000 Congo Road.

This is the first meeting since the Benton

City Council approved an ordinance setting a pay structure for the members of Benton's Planning and Zoning commission.

Meetings are open to the public and attendance is encouraged, they are also live-streamed from the city's official Facebook page.
