Chorus installs new board of directors

Special to the Courier

On Tuesday, April, 26, the Crystal Chimes Chorus of Hot Springs Village/Hot Springs installed its 2022-23 Board of Directors. Pictured, from left to right, holding candy bars to remind them of their respective duties are Mary Frans, performance coordinator;Sonja Parnell, scholarship Chair; Valerie Jackson, secretary;

Kay Latta, treasurer; Lee King, president; Joy Dressler, vice president; Lynne Nooner, ways and means co-chair and Ginger Serpas, ways and means co-chair.

The chorus is a member of Sweet Adelines International, the largest women’s singing organization in the world. Singing four-part acapella and barbershop harmony, the Chimes have been entertaining in the local areas for over three decades. Their repertoire can be tailored to fit any program. If you, or your organization are interested in having the Chimes sing for you, please contact Mary Frans at 1-870-816-5577 or mefrans30@yahoo.com.

Once the group was cleared to sing together again, after COVID-19, members found that the chorus was quite a bit smaller. They are always looking to welcome new members, but now, it was even more important. Pleasantly surprised by the sound they were producing after only meeting on Zoom for so long, the group wants to share the opportunity to sing ‘the most beautiful music on Earth’, with any interested ladies. "You don’t need to have a ‘perfect’ singing voice and you don’t need to be able to read music … so, why don’t you come visit and see what we are all about. We promise you’ll have lots of fun and won’t be sorry you came by," according to the group.

Members meet every Tuesday, from 1 4 p.m., in the choir room at Christ of the Hills UMC (700 Balearic Rd., HSV).

Please contact Judy Pugh at 1-817-714-5716 or judyp4591@ gmail.com, so the group can make sure to have a guest music book for guests.
